MORROSKO VILA-SAN-JUAN
Filmmaker and producer.
Born in Barcelona in 1970 and a graduate of Philosophy and Arts. He has written, directed, produced, and created numerous documentaries and formats for both television and film.
His filmography focuses on cultural, social, civic, and architectural themes. The beginning of his career is closely tied to Barcelona, where he started by working as part of the press team of the city hall preparing for the 1992 Olympics. Soon, he began creating documentary pieces and programs for local television. He also worked in the editorial team of Ajoblanco Magazine and contributed to various cultural publications. Simultaneously, he collaborated on film scripts and worked as a technician on film sets, including serving as an assistant director in Whit Stillman's "Barcelona" (1994).
After spending a few years in Madrid, where he was a director for the veteran and award-winning TVE program Versión Española, he returned to Barcelona Television, where he directed the program Trailer," which received a special mention at the City of Barcelona Awards. He co-founded the production company "Alguienvoló" with filmmaker J.A. Salgot, producing both fiction and documentaryart woks.
In 2010, he made the documentary "Barcelona underground," about the underground scene of the 1970s, which premiered at the In-Edit Festival. He followed this with various documentary projects focusing on social, urban, and global health issues.
In 2024, he released the feature-length documentary "More than a Museum", about the history of the construction of the new Munch Museum in Oslo and the urban, architectural, and social transformation of the city, co-produced by Morrosko Vila-San-Juan together with Monsieur Alain and with the participation of CaixaForumPlus, which participates in numerous international festivals, as well as biennials and architecture competitions.
He is currently in post-production on the feature film "Melissa & La Ricarda" and in development on "The Joyful Awakening (The Women of the Guache Divine)”.
